FAQ · plain answers

How verità decides what's worth it.

The questions people ask before they trust a verdict, answered the way the app answers: plainly. If yours isn't here, email info@askverita.com.

How do you make sure the reviews are real?

Verità has no review database of its own, and nobody can submit a review to it, so there's nothing for a brand to game. When it builds a fresh verdict, it runs a live web search for coverage of that exact product and reads what comes back.

Only pages the search actually returned can be cited. Every verdict lists its sources inside the app, so you can open them yourself.

no fake reviews, ever.

Can brands pay for a verdict?

No. No sponsorships, no placements, no "partner scores," no paid rankings. There is no price for a "worth it."

Some shop links are affiliate links that may earn a small commission. The verdict is generated before, and independently of, any link, so the link never changes the answer.

How is my skin profile built?

When you set up the app, you answer a few plain questions: skin type and concerns, hair type and concerns, sensitivities and known triggers, age range, fragrance preference, and the actives you already use.

Then six sliders ask what you actually care about in a product: whether it works, how it feels, price, ingredients, prestige, and how long it lasts. "Worth it" is weighed against those answers, not against a universal score.

Over time the profile learns from what you save, what you add to your bag, and what you tell it afterwards. You can see and edit what Verità thinks you value inside the app.

Where does the ingredient data come from?

From Open Beauty Facts, a public product database; from the label you photograph; or from a web page the app names. Verità never invents an ingredient list.

If none of those has one, the app says "ingredient list unavailable" instead of guessing. Coverage isn't perfect. We'd rather show a gap than fill it with something plausible.

Does it work for makeup, or just skincare?

Skincare, makeup, hair, and body. Anything with a barcode or a name. The example verdicts on the homepage include a lip oil, a complexion product, a cleanser, and a moisturiser.

Is my data stored or shared?

Your sign-in email and the profile you enter are stored with Supabase, with row-level security, so only your account can read your records. When you scan, the product name and your profile attributes (never your name or email) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the verdict.

We don't sell data, show ads, or share your profile with beauty brands. You can delete your account and everything with it from Settings in the app. Deletion is permanent. The full privacy policy is one page.

Is it free? Is there an Android version?

Verità is free on iPhone, on the App Store. There is no Android version. If you're not on iPhone, leave your email on the homepage and we'll write when something changes.

Why did it say "not worth it" for something I love?

Because a verdict is for your profile, not a universal score. The same product can be worth it for one person and not for another. That's the point.

If a verdict got you wrong, give it a thumbs-down in the app. That feeds back into what Verità thinks you value.
